Dr. Kevin Scott is an academic leader, researcher, and department chair with deep expertise in American literature, cultural history, and popular culture. He serves as Chair of the English Department at the University of West Florida, where he leads academic programs, faculty development, and research initiatives.

Dr. Scott holds a doctorate in American Studies from Purdue University, along with advanced degrees in English from Iowa State University and Ball State University. His academic work focuses on 19th-century American literature, cultural analysis, and the intersection of literature and popular culture, including comics, film, and mass media.

He is a published author and editor, with works covering major American literary figures such as Herman Melville and Mark Twain, as well as broader cultural studies. His co-authored book, The Porning of America, received national attention and sparked discussion across major media platforms. He has also edited and contributed to scholarly works on comics and American cultural development.

Dr. Scott brings strong experience in research, writing, and academic analysis. His ability to translate complex ideas into structured, fundable proposals makes him a key asset in grant development and institutional partnerships.

At Viviscent Wellness Foundation, Dr. Scott leads the University of West Florida grant team. He supports research development, grant writing, and academic collaboration, helping secure funding and build partnerships that expand the foundation’s housing, healthcare, and community initiatives.
